‘Ariadne’ (Acer palmatum) - This attractive variegated tree has new growth that has yellow-green veins on a light orange-pink-red marbled background. ‘Azuma murasaki’ (Acer palmatum) - Known for its unusual red tone of leaf, this cultivar has a slight purple hue to it with an undertone of green showing through. New spring growth is yellow-orange. In mid-summer the leaves change to a deep green with a reddish hue, turning a beautiful deep red in the fall. ‘Azuma murasaki’ can reach up to about 18 feet in height and becomes some-what round-topped and can reach about 15 feet wide. Keep in mind that early growth of this tree is rapid, but it slows with the age of the tree. | ||
‘Beni hime’ (Acer palmatum) - Also known as “red dwarf”, this plant is one of the smallest dwarf shrubs. ‘Beni hime’ has tiny, pointed star-shaped leaves that form dense clusters on the leafstalks. They then change to their outstanding pumpkin fall colors of reds, oranges and golds. ‘She Katy’ has a narrow upright growth habit, with an open crown.
